Swimming Program Many dogs love to swim. But did you know that while Fido is out having a blast in your pool he is actually getting an excellent workout? Studies show that just like in people, swimming is great for muscle conditioning, cardio- vascular health and respiratory fitness. Swimming can also help cure your pup’s negative behavior from boredom by giving him something fun to do while draining his excess energy. This low impact workout can even help your old guy feel young again
But just because your dog may love to swim it doesn’t mean he really knows how to swim safely. It is a sad fact that many pets, even dogs that are accomplished swimmers, drown from exhausting themselves while trying to find a way out pools and lakes. At ZoneDogs.com we offer swimming pool safety lessons as part of our in home training services. Don’t worry, even if your dog is afraid of the pool we will teach him self confidence and he’ll be swimming like a fish in no time!
Our training program begins, of course with swimming safety. We will teach your pet how to get in and out of the pool safely and that the stairs of your pool are the "safe" spot to exit and enter it. We can also help you pick out special steps made for pets and wild critters alike such as the Skamper-Ramp® and Pet Step™.
The next step is working with your dog to find out what exercises are best for your dog’s individual needs and how much time your dog can safely do these exercises. After a few sessions you may be ready to give the lessons yourself! And don’t worry about time; swimming takes half the time of the daily recommended 45 minute walk!
Contact us today. The results will amaze you. Your dog will be happier, healthier, and looking good!
Before beginning any exercise program, you must consult your pets' veterinarian. Dogs attending camp in the summer
months have the
opportunity to swim in our pond.
